Keeping up with exercising with less free time.

I have had much less free time recently. Work has been a bit more demanding due to some things going on that are all very good things but just much more work needs to get done in hours that are not 9-5 so I have had even less time to focus on writing blog updates and getting the exercising journey stuff done. That being said I have still found time to get it all done other than the updates to the blog. I have been able to get at least a small ride, a run, or some lifting in every day still. I only have about an hour most of the days of the week including the weekends. With having two kids and other family members having kids with the days getting nice there are a lot of gatherings and things to do with the kids that takes up my time on the weekends. Either way I am sticking true to getting the exercising done but posting about it might be a bit harder. I still very much enjoy the idea of posting about this journey and blogging about it for the fun of it so there will be more updates they just might be slower than I thought I could get them out there.

I have found a bike ride that I like for a quick 1 hour riding session that is mostly on paved trails. There is a good streach of it in the beginning that is gravel but it is fairly packed gravel and easy to ride on. If I stop only once mid way through the ride to have a quick drink of water and just rest for a second the ride takes me 54 minutes and I can use this as a point of reference for getting faster. If I can imporve this time and get more than 12 miles in that 1 hour time frame I will be very happy. I have noticed that my average speeds have gone up from riding I started around 13 mph and I am now around 14 mph each ride so that is a good improvement on the bike riding side of things. I have been riding the Ozark Trail G1 bike for each of these rides now and I have put almost 100 miles on it according to strava. The front derailleur is still broken but still shifts fine. The rear derailleur shifts fine as well but now because of the front being broken I can not adjust things to be perfect. In either the higest or lowest gears in the back the front derailleur rubs the chain ever so slightly. This is going to cuase major wear over time and will force me to buy new parts quicker than I wanted to. That being said the bike could use a few better parts anyway and it was fairly cheap so I am not all that upset about it.

I am posting this on the 16th and I have not got any exercise done yet today but I will doing that shortly. I have been making sure to get some cardio in every day. Tuesday I was did a very quick ride because I also started lifting weights. I started fairly light with the lifting but dont have a good way to log as Samsung health does not let me log the way I like. I have stuck with using google keep. Here is the log of what I have been doing so far with the lifting and I will note that I do not count the bar as part of the wieght. It is a standard 45LB bar I use but I don't count it becuase it makes it simpler to put the weights on the bar when I don't have to think about math. For numbers below 5x5 would mean I did 5 sets of 5 lifts so I pushed the bar up and down 5 times for 5 sets for a total of 25 lifts.

Squats: 90 LB 5x5
Bench 70 LB 5x5 ( for the last 5x I did almost drop the bar as I was over doing it by trying to lift what I used to years ago.)
Overhead Press 20 LB 5x5
Push Ups: 10x 5 ( I was stuggling hard to continue this as well beucase of overdoing the bench.)
Sit Ups: 10x10

I plan on adding in deadlifts and barbell rows into this rutine. I also have a few things on order for doing curls and other single arm lifts.

To the main thing I started this blog for getting a pair of pants to fit. I will say those pants still do not fit but they are getting close to fitting properly. I can get them on but they are tight still. I still do not want to focus on my main problem with my weight too much here but it is still a hard pill to swollow that I have not lost much weight even though I do a lot of exercising. I am much healthier than when I started this journey and I am happier with my progress overall. I still do not get why I am staying at 166 LBs for what feels like a month now. I have not dropped any lower than this and I have been counting my calories. I am really not sure if this is somethig that I am doing wrong or if there is something else wrong but I feel awesome so I am going to have to assume that weight loss is going to take a much longer time than I thought it would have. I am going to keep at it and try to stop focusing on the numbers here as hard as that can be its not about the daily numbers its about the overall progress.

I am off to continue the journey! Have a wonderful day and thank you for reading!
