Got some new things and excited about taking the kids on the journey.

Today was a bit of a different day for me. I was on my morning ride and was thinking about the attachments to bring my kids on rides and as I was thinking about it I saw a few riders with the carts and they had their kids in them. My main problems about riding with the kid cart in the back of my bike was the fact that drivers are a bit crazy sometimes and I worry about the safety with the carts. I asked a one of them what they thought of things and how drivers were when they had the carts attached and they told me that for the most part people are not as bad when they have the carts on the bikes as when they are just riding themselves. After my ride I ended up running out to the store to get a new cart for my kids.

I started by going to the local bike shops near me and the first one I went to was not a friendly place. I asked to see if they had used carts or other used items because I wanted to save money and maybe get more for my money and they said they only sell new things. I asked if they had a helmet I was looking at as mine was starting to get too loose to wear and they did try to help me but the way they tried to talk to me it was like they did not want me in the store at all because I was not going to spend a lot of money there. They showed me a helmet from the shelf that was not badly priced and said this is the cheapest one we only sell MIPS helmets and nothing here will be less than that... Well if you going to treat people like that and make it like you dont want anyone who is not going to spend a lot of money to be in your store then I will not buy anything from your store. I then went to the next local bike shop and did the same thing. They did sell some used stuff but not a lot and no kid carts at all. They did show me some helmets and were not judgmental about things at all. I ended up buying a new specialized helmet with a very good rating and was more money than the one first bike shop showed me. I like to save money but I have enough to buy things if I need them. After all of that was sorted out I went to a target because they had kid carts and they seemed fairly nice. I bought a schwinn cart and a few bags for my bikes so that I could make sure I have all the things I need on my ride with the kids.

There is the dad charriot with out the bags on the frame. I used an older bike I had to attach the cart to becuase it seemed like a better option than having it put on the gravel bike or my mountain bike. This bike was a bike I used to use years ago to just cruise around town and I had it set up to be more of a ride it around all day bike at a slow pace bike. It had some issues that I had to sort out from not riding it in a long time such as the shifting was aful and the brakes were not in the right spot on the bars anymore. They ended up shifted up far too high and I am not sure what happened that caused that but either way fixed that and made sure the brakes worked. Things are good now I should get a new set of brakes for this bike as it uses an older zoom disk brakes that I could buy new pads for but I would rather just buy a new set of brakes that are just better all around. These are around 12 years old or more and not what they used to be. Again they still stopped the bike with the cart just fine but this is a ride for my kids so I do want it to be as safe as I can make it. I also will swap out the shifters but they are not a safety issue so I will deal with that later. I did test it out with my daughter and we went around the yard and it worked perfectly.

On for some of the journey things I have still been loosing weight and its just about at the point where I should slow down with the weight loss part. I am just about the size I want to be and just a little over the weight I want to be so I might end up slowing down on the diet. I am still eating just about everything I want with not many limits but I do keep with in a calorie limit of 1600. I am thinking a few more weeks of that and increasing that to 1800 or so to stop losing weight.

I also found out some new ways to share strava stats for rides I go on. I did not know there was a way to overlay the stats on a picture of the ride until I noticed other people doing it on threads. I ended up posting a few of them on threads and I think its a much nicer way to get stats shared. I have been updating threads but I still have not uploaded a youtube video yet. I brought my action camera with me on the last ride but I did not end up recording any video because I became too embarrassed. Either way I am still going to try and create something just for a little fun.

I am off to continue the journey! Have a wonderful day and thank you very much for reading!
