Staying on the Journey! Plus 100 Mile Ride Date.

Image
Staying on the Journey I have been staying on the journey and have been keeping up with my cycling every day. Each day I have ben getting 15 miles of morning riding done. It has been getting colder in the morning but this has not stopped my from riding in shorts and t-shirt. Anyway I am getting the rides in preparing for the 100 mile ride that I have been planning for a while. Each morning ride I have been mostly just riding and then finishing the ride with out thinking about taking many photos or vlogging about it. I have been in a bit of a funk with life agian and my kids got me sick the past week again so its not be the best morning rides and I have not felt well enough to really focus on these things. I have no plans to stop blogging and will continue to take photos and still hoping to get some vlogging in there but for the next week I am just going to try to feel better.  As for where this journey is heading I am getting closer to the 100 mile ride where that is kind of an end po

The Exercising Journey is not just about physical activity!

Overall Health and Exercising I have mentioned some health things on my blog before most in as they relate to not sleeping properly and it having some bad effects on me. All the things I am going to say are about my health story and I am in no way saying what you should or should not do.  When I was younger I had a few bad doctors. The kind of Dr that would hear what you said such as, my nose is always stuffy and no allergy has helped me at all, and answer with something so condescending like, well maybe if you blew your nose right it would not be stuffy all the time. So since I was a kid I had a bad relationship with medical "professionals". This all came to a boiling point about 15 years ago when I went to the Dr for a very soar throat. I figured it had to be strep or something else like that it hurt so bad and nothing I was doing was helping so I went to the Dr. When talking to the Dr he asked if I had an sexual partners... I was in my 20s and I was in a commited relation

Ozark Trail 700C G.1 Explorer Gravel Bike 1000 mile updated thoughts.

1000 Miles of Riding the Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer Gravel Bike I have ridden this bike for 1000 miles according to my Strava logs so I figured it was time to update my thoughts on the bike and go over some of the things I still like about it and some of the things I don't like about it. I would rather give my summary upfront and then explain the rest later on so if you want to read the details you can but if not then just read the summary. It is a good bike even after 1000 miles I had not had issues with it that hinder my ability to ride it. I would buy another if this one broke or something else happened to it. I also see this as a perfect starter bike or a bike to have as extra such as when friends come over. Now the summary quick thoughts are over lets get into the detials on things.  The Wheels and Tires The tires are one of the first things I had little hope for when I started riding this bike. They are kenda tires but the bike is 250 dollars so they would not be good tires rig

Getting Ready for a century ride!

Image
Century Ride Preparations. I am getting ready to go on a 100 mile ride also known as a century ride. I still don't have a firm date in mind but it will be in the next few weeks. I started to get all my equipment ready and tested out before I go on that ride as I really do not want any failures to happen half way through and end up stopping becuase of something I forgot to do. I purchased a new bike rack one that does not strip the hole more than they are from the prior failure of a bike rack I bought. This one attaches to the seat post and then clamps on the back of the bike near where you would screw in a regular rack. I am a bit upset that I can not use a regular rack anymore and I am not about to tap the screw hole to make it work as I would end up ruining something if I attempted that. Either way this new bike rack works fine as long as I don't try to adjust my seat. I already took it on a 20 mile test ride and it worked out very well. I had the bag from my other rack set

Trail cats, KOM attempts, Ozark Trail Ridge Update, and Ice cream!

Trail Cats! My daugher has started kindergarden last week and she has to get the bus at 7:45 AM every day. This means that I have to wake up at 6:30 to help get everyone ready for the day. It only takes about 15 minutes for me to get everything ready and my spouse takes on the rest of the things. I mostly take care of the night stuff and tend to the overnight needs of the kids and my spouse does the morning and day time stuff so I can work. I say this mostly just to paint a picture of my day and why I am able to get my stuff done in about 15 minutes. After I am done I get to get on my bike and go for a ride.  Over the past week I have gotten out on my bike 3 times in the morning I was going to end up going for a 4th ride but we did not have our alarms set right so we woke up in a rush and I missed out on getting the 4th ride in. With these morning rides I have been able to go longer than I have in the past as I have about 2 hours before I have to be online for work. I have had tons of

Cycling mishaps and buying another bike. The Charriot 2.0 An Ozark Trail Ridge.

I knew that it was only a matter of time before my Mongoose Deception I bought sometime in 2010 or 2011 was going to fail. I never put any parts on it parts on it over those years and had put quite a few miles on it over time. I bought it before I knew if I liked mountain biking so it was mostly a see if  I like the sport type bike. My main worries at the time of buying it were it had to have disk brakes, it needed quick release, and it needed to be able to ride a trail. I was living in a condo at the time and had a very small car so these things were needed to get the bike stored in a small storage shed and put into a trunk of a car. I am saying all of this because for a few years it was just not taken care of all that well and bought it just to see if I liked mountain biking. Not that I abused it but I just did not care much about it. I ended up moving and having more space and I liked mountain biking so I bought a Specialized mountain bike. After years of not riding bikes at all I
