Time of the year for sickness and eating.

Fall Sickness and over eating

It has been one heck of a month for me. It started out fine enough with a little sickness that was not keeping me down. It was the common cold feeling for the first week of the month. It is now the last week of the month and the family has been sick for the whole month. This has taken a toll on how much I can exercise as I am either not feeling well enough to do it or I have to take care of one of my kids who is sick. I would say this has caused a major setback in my journey but its not unexpected and is still just part of it. Life happens and I will have parts of this journey where I am not doing as well as other parts and that is okay.

I have not changed the amount of food I am eating or the type of food and I have not gained much weight back yet. Last post on the blog I was around 138 or so and today I was 145. This is not no weight gain but its not as bad as I was thinking it was going to be when I was thinking about it. I am still just logging what I eat and trying to stick to around 1600 and 2500 for the day. Some days this month I have been over that and other days I have been under that. I am not intending on being well over or under those counts its more I was not feeling well enough to eat so I ate just what ever I could get down, as well as the reverse some days I just could not fill up so I kept eating. Things mostly evened out over the month and not a ton of weight gain has made me happy.

This is the time of year for eating as well. Winter is just about here and there are lots of parties and events to attend where eating is the main point of them. Thanksgiving is one example of these events where the main point is to gather around with your family and eat food. My way of handling this is going to be simple. For Thanksgiving and Christmas I am not going to bother tracking my food. This seems weird to me after tracking every gram I ate for the past few months but the past month of sickenss has shown me that I can relax a day as long as the overall for the month I track things and exercise then I should be fine with some over eating.

 Whats next for the journey?

I have been thinking a lot about the plans of my journey and what I can really get done in the winter and I am still going to focus on weight lifting and treadmil running. That being said I also bought some stuff for cold weather bike riding. I think I have ridden a bike in the snow only a few times in my life so I thoguht it would be a little fun to get out there and ride in the cold instead of just running on a treadmil all winter. I don't think I will ride every morning like I had been doing in the summer but that is fine just getting out to ride even a few times in the winter should be fun. I also have enjoyed riding my bike to the store and other places I normally would have just driven before. My bikes have given me a different way to get to places that makes me more fit and happier overall than the stressfullness of driving so I will continue to ride in the winter. It will also give me some nice photos to add to the blog and social media sites.

Updates on the Bikes

So I have ridden my gravel bike for a long time now and the new charriot I have amost 500 miles on it. I need to do some work to them to make sure they are ready for the spring and summer riding. I am going to ride my older specialized in the winter as it was the least used bike and the tires are in the best shape. The G.1 explorer needs new tires they still have some tread on them but its not long before they have nothing left. I still think that bike was the best 250 dollars I have spent in a long time. I am still not going to upgrade things but I will replace things on it.

I am off to go to sleep and get over this sickenss. Thank you very much for reading and have a wonderful day!
